Mombasa Nights

An English Safari Mystery

A murderous cabal.  A devastating conspiracy grows in Kenya.

English Safari has just settled into his new job as Deputy Commissioner for the Kenya Revenue Authority.  He had worked hard to get where he was and planned on making a difference in Kenya’s future.  The jokes and rumors that he had only made it as far as he had because his parents named him English to endear him to the Brits only rarely got under his skin.  It didn’t help that he attended Oxford on scholarship.  He would have been happy if the jokes were the extent of his troubles.

Functionaries wanting favors, endless meetings and paperwork, entertaining visiting dignitaries, and dealing with bribery within and without his organization were all expected to accompany his new position.  He knew he could face these challenges with his tight-knit circle of friends and trusted colleagues at his side.

A few days into his new position, this belief is shattered when his right-hand man, Elijah, is found brutally murdered.  Unable to trust the local police, English launches his own investigation into his friend’s death.  Discovering the secret that got Elijah killed brings Safari to the attention of powerful enemies.  When you’re up against forces like these, you learn one thing very quickly:

In Mombasa, battling corruption can be deadly.
